capsule wardrobe no. 2 {what i’m wearing this fall}.

Fall-Capsule-2015

{just joining me? catch up on my capsule wardrobe project here}

hi all! as the days of my summer capsule wardrobe dwindle – i’m starting my fall capsule on august 10! – i wanted to share with you a few final reflections on my first foray into this capsule project, as well as what’s in my capsule for fall! as a reminder, the purpose of a capsule wardrobe is to select and wear a set number of pieces {including tops, jackets, bottoms, dresses, and shoes} all season long. in addition, i won’t shop until it’s time to prep my winter capsule at the end of fall.

first, two last-minute reflections on my summer capsule:

37 items was a bit of a frustrating number. for me, i don’t think that i would have struggled so much to come up with daily outfits if i had 37 CLOTHING items, versus 37 items that included shoes. i wore five pairs of shoes this summer, and i would have much rather had five additional clothing items instead!

i overestimated “work” clothes and underestimated “comfy” clothes. in other words, i had loftier goals of what clothing items i’d be reaching for each day. read: instead of reaching for a cute button-down top with ruffle detail, or a vintage-inspired bird printed blouse, i found myself reaching for tank tops and t-shirts day after day as i cared for my littles.

and now – on to fall! my fall capsule will last from august 10-november 16.

the biggest change for fall: i’ve increased my number of items from 37 to 50. there are a few reasons for this, the biggest one being that the start of the school year means i’ll be teaching full-time and will need work clothes five days per week! also, as i mentioned above, 37 items felt a bit too minimal for me, so i’m upping the number here to hopefully alleviate that unnecessary stress. after all, it’s not a magic number that i’m after – it’s minimalism in general!

also, a goal for me for this capsule is to publish some of my favorite outfits! i’m no fashionista by ANY means, but i love seeing what outfits that other women put together {and put them out there via Pinterest, Instagram or their blogs for others to use as inspiration!), so i hope to do the same every once in awhile.
