Lovely Recap: L’s Baptism

Dear L,

Today, you were baptized into God’s family. It was such a wonderful morning, and you were such a good boy in church! You wore your Uncle Brian’s baptismal outfit, and you looked so handsome. You were awake and quiet for the first part of the service, and then, by baptism time, you were sound asleep!

Your godparents are your Uncle Austen, your Auntie Lacy and your Uncle Brian. They all stood up for you, along with Mama, Daddy, your Grandma Patty, your Grandpa Joe, your Grammy Nachole, your Grandpa Steve, and your Great Grandma Helen, while you were being baptized. In fact, at our church, it’s customary for the family members to take part in baptizing children, so ALL of your family members (Mama and Daddy included!) baptized you with the water today. It was such a special morning, dear boy – you are so blessed to have so many people in your life who love you!

Mama’s good friend Jessica also came to your baptism today – she is studying to be a pastor, so she said a lovely prayer during your baptism. She also helped to baptize you with the water – it was so very special!

Then, after you were baptized, you walked down the center aisle in the arms of Pastor Steve – and you were sound asleep! You were such a good boy.

Following the baptism, you and Mama and Daddy were formally made members of our church! Today was such an exciting day for our family.

You started to get a bit fussy towards the end of church, so Daddy took you out of the sanctuary. But, a few minutes later, Daddy came hustling back inside, because you were crying and hungry! Luckily, Mama had a bottle of breast milk ready, just in case, so Daddy took you back outside to feed you. It was so funny when Daddy came back in – the congregation laughed! :)

After church, you and Mama and Daddy went downstairs to greet other members of our church, and then we proceeded to our house for your baptism reception. By the time that we arrived at our apartment, all of our friends and family had arrived! Mama’s friend Jessica said a prayer, and then we all ate lunch. Mama and Daddy have never had so many people in our apartment – it was so much fun! The food was yummy, the fellowship was wonderful, and we couldn’t feel more blessed that the day’s events went so smoothly.

You received so many thoughtful cards and gifts from our loved ones in honor of your baptism – we are so blessed to have such loving and generous family members!

You are our gift from God, little L – we love you so much, and Daddy and I look forward to raising you in the church!

Lots of love,

– Mama
